Honeywell Mercury Sunsetting Mini-Max | Adopt EC 350 ECV
The Honeywell Mercury Mini-Max Discontinued June 2019. The EC 350 was introduced in 2015 as Honeywell Mercury’s newest gas volume corrector (ECV) designed to optimize and simplify custody transfer and industrial natural gas measurement. During that introduction, Honeywell published an eBook titled “Six Reasons to Adopt Honeywell’s EC 350 Electronic Volume Corrector.” In this post, I will paraphrase the reasons and suggest another reason, the EC 350’s predecessor, the Mini-Max, will not be manufactured after June 1, 2019.
Governmental and industry standards require that gas distributors provide precise gas measurement during fiscal metering for the custody transfer of gas while supplying commercial and industrial customers. Since small changes in gas pressure and temperature can significantly alter the volume of gas, the electronic volume corrector, which converts the gas volume from operating conditions to reference pressure and temperature conditions, becomes a significant part of regulating money transactions between parties.
Why Adopt the Honeywell Mercury EC 350 ECV? Here are seven reasons:
1 – The Honeywell Mercury Mini-Max discontinued on June 1, 2019.
For those late adopters, those who have resisted changing from the long-time classic Honeywell Mercury Mini-Max to the EC 350, it’s time to take the plunge and upgrade to the newest technology! Honeywell will no longer manufacture the Mini-Max electronic correctors effective June 1, 2019.
The EC 350 PTZ volume correctors are UMB- and rotary-mount devices, which simplify and optimize gas custody transfer and industrial measurement. This electronic corrector platform replaces the previous models, including the Mini-Max, with an array of best-in-class features. The EVC offers precise measurements and long-term reliability. The units are fully field-programmable, easy to use and ensure a low total cost of ownership, and reduced operating expenses.
2- Upgrade to protect your investment.
When upgrading systems, the user makes the most of their capital investment while planning for the future. Upgrading ensures reliable operations, assists the user in maintaining industry standards, and reduces future service and maintenance.
3 – Minimize operational risks by keeping systems up-to-date.
The electronic volume corrector can significantly impact the efficiency of the operation. Upgrading equipment minimizes operational risks, improves productivity, ensures asset safety and reduces overall costs.
4 – Upgraded equipment offers accuracy improvements.
Electronic volume correctors have become the instrumentation of choice for many utilities and industries for the custody transfer of natural gas. Honeywell Mercury EVCs have traditionally been the gold standard, and the EC 350 offers a significant improvement in accuracy over its predecessors and competing products.
5 – The upgrade provides flexibility and optimized data transmission.
Honeywell designed the EC 350 platform to provide its clients’ flexibility in data transmission. The EC 350 utilizes advanced integrated cellular radio technology, as well as the traditional landline modem. Additionally, the EVC is compatible with cellular devices for remote data transmission.
6 – The upgraded instrument simplifies daily operations.
The EC 350 platform incorporates an intuitive user interface making set-up easier and simplifies the operations over earlier Honeywell Mercury Instrument EVCs and competitive products. A dynamic contrast LCD also enhances the user’s experience with straightforward navigation and menus.
7 – The Honeywell EC 350 provides enhanced auditing trail capabilities.
The 1990s audit trail capabilities, permitting data to be downloaded and electronically saved has been substantially enhanced by the Honeywell Mercury EC 350 platform. The instrument provides a configurable and mappable audit trail with options for multiple independent logs. There is easy access to the audit trail enabling users to extract data to gather a complete understanding of asset properties and conditions.
