Have you ever felt like life is speeding up? Or perhaps our days are getting shorter? I understand that since the massive earthquakes of Sumatra, Chili and Japan, scientists claim the earth is spinning faster and shaving milliseconds off our days, but I think there’s another phenomenon that’s speeding up life … the self-imposed marathon on the hamster wheel.

In my earlier post, Operator Qualification Program Provision 1: identify covered tasks, I discussed how regulations require pipeline operators to prepare a written Operator Qualification Plan. The first step in the plan is to identify the covered tasks and create an OQ task list, and the second step is to evaluate the individuals while performing the tasks to ensure they are properly trained.

There’s something to be said about fresh starts and new beginnings.  A blanket of fresh powder and a set of skis assure a thrill. A receding tide and beach offer a place for solitude and peace. The start of a new semester offers good intentions for high grades and success. It is no wonder that with the turn of a calendar’s page from one year to the next, we set resolutions to become better people.

In my earlier post, What is Operator Qualification? I shared the government mandates that operators qualify employees or contractors who operate or maintain small distribution systems within the oil and gas industry. The PHMSA has set up guidelines to help small distribution operators and master meter system operators develop an Operator Qualification plan.

Tuesday, 20 September 2011 Category Natural Gas 0 Comments

Submetering is a metering system implemented in buildings or communities where there are multiple tenants, so the property owner or management company can bill the individual tenants for their utility usage. While submetering was originally invented in the 1920s, it didn’t become popular until the late 80s, because of increasing utility costs and environmental conservation.
